Nassau, Bahamas Port Guide
Everything You Need to Know About Nassau
Almost every seasoned cruiser has sailed at least once to Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas, as it’s one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and you’ll likely find fewer cruise ports that invite more controversy.
While many cruisers express disdain for this port, it's one of my favorites and I hate that it gets such a bad rap. Prior to the 2023 port renovation, this stop was known for super aggressive vendors soliciting cruisers straight off the ship. Post-renovation, however, things are vastly improved.
The terminal is beautiful and modern, and the vendors who actively solicit cruisers now reside outside the terminal gates. Once you exit the port area, you can expect to be asked by a local vendor to buy something, do an excursion, or take a ride, but if you're not interested, just firmly say no, avoid eye contact, and keep walking. I travel to Nassau often, even solo and with my young kiddo, and have never had any issues, nor have I felt unsafe.
